There is something beautiful about a piece that isn’t perfect in the way a machine makes things perfect.

Our first Dear Daughter custom collection was designed + chosen by us here on our farm in Festus, Missouri, and then made ethically in small batches organically in Jaipur, with an almost unreasonable amount of thought given to every little detail.

We considered the women we love: our daughters, our mothers, our grandmothers, and friends when choosing silhouettes meant to flatter different ages, seasons of life, and body types. We chose 100% organic cotton, and we became increasingly particular about not only what a fabric is made from, but what happens to it along the way, so you can feel good knowing that there are no harmful chemicals used on your loved ones.

And then there are the prints.
Rather than being quickly printed by a machine, our fabrics are created using the old-world art of hand block printing. Small carved blocks are stamped by hand, one impression at a time. With multi-colored designs, one color is printed and allowed to dry before the next is added.

Incredibly intentional + hand made with love.

That means a block may land a fraction differently, a smudge, A shade may vary. A tiny detail may be beautifully imperfect.

No two pieces will ever be exactly alike. And we think that’s part of the magic.

The details are slow. The craftsmanship is human. The natural fibers and dyes were chosen with care. Even delicate details such as eyelet are worked + cut by hand.

This is what slow fashion means to us.. not a phrase, or a trend but a process to be treasured.

We wanted to create clothing you could feel good about putting on the women you love: beautiful natural fibers, thoughtfully considered materials and processes, feminine silhouettes, and pieces special enough to someday pass down.

And perhaps the hardest part was making all of that attainable. We intentionally kept our prices as approachable as we could, because we believe beautiful craftsmanship shouldn’t only belong to the few.
